The Unit promotes the Research and Innovation system, the Tecnopoles, and the Clust-ERs in international markets. It manages relations with institutions and organizations in target countries, fosters collaboration opportunities with local partners, and oversees the organization or participation in events and missions.
It initiates institutional, economic, scientific, and technological collaborations with foreign partners in the target countries of the Go Global 2021-2025 NEXT programme (USA, China, India, Israel, Japan), working alongside international stakeholders such as the diplomatic network, ICE (Italian Trade Agency), Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, and others. Additionally, it scouts new development opportunities in the MENASA region (Middle East and North Africa) and the Indo-Pacific area (India, South Korea, Japan).
The Unit manages the Emilia-Romagna Regional Office in Silicon Valley, organizes participation in major events and World Expositions, including the recent EXPO 2020 Dubai and the upcoming EXPO 2023 in Osaka.
It also promotes the Emilia-Romagna region and its excellence internationally, with a particular focus on the internationalization of the regional agri-food system, the enhancement and promotion of quality-regulated productions, and the organization of the Italian Cuisine Week worldwide.
Through its presence in Silicon Valley, it coordinates and promotes Emilia-Romagna's activities across North America, organizes programmes for startups, businesses, and other regional ecosystem players, and develops thematic initiatives in the USA and Canada. These initiatives focus on key sectors such as life sciences and advanced therapies in the Philadelphia district, biotech and digital health in Boston, automotive in Detroit and Chicago, and aerospace in Texas.
Additionally, the Unit coordinates the reception of foreign delegations.
