The growing aging population and the rise in chronic diseases have a significant impact on quality of life and healthcare costs, putting pressure on the public healthcare model. Emilia-Romagna, which already allocates around 70% of its regional budget to healthcare spending (approximately 13 billion euros in 2023), is strongly committed to tackling this challenge through the Regional Prevention Plan (PRP 2021-2025).

ART-ER has implemented a series of actions to guide public and private stakeholders toward deep-tech innovation to promote personalized medicine and nutrition, support food production following the One Health approach, enhance deep-tech research to understand the processes and factors—including environment and lifestyle—that influence healthy longevity, and foster the creation of new innovative enterprises.
