The Hub works towards innovation, resilience to transformations, and sustainable growth in the mechatronics and motor sectors. Specifically, it focuses on key strategic research and innovation areas of major interest for the region: advanced manufacturing, automation, digitalization, innovation in engines and vehicles (zero emissions, assisted and autonomous driving, digitalization and connectivity, safety, etc.), sustainable materials, solutions for aerospace and marine industries, and fluid dynamics systems.

These focus areas are further developed through cross-cutting technologies that are highly relevant to the region, such as Industry 4.0 and 5.0, Big Data (linked to regional data storage and HPC capabilities), Human-Machine Interface and predictive maintenance, sustainable mobility and mobility services, electrification and batteries, and technologies for the aerospace sector.

The Hub develops most of these topics in collaboration with the regional innovation ecosystem, particularly with Clust-ER MECH, with which there is a continuous exchange of information and content, as well as with key regional departments, especially on aerospace and automotive-related topics.
